Sail Newport Celebrates 40 years as Rhode Islands public sailing center. As a gift for this significant birthday Lanex Yachting USA has donated hundreds meters of their best sailing line to rig the Sail Newport fleet of J22s, and Opti Sailboats. We have seen the boats with their new rigging and they sure do look sharp!
Learn to Sail programs summer youth programs and mid-week regattas have attracted many novice and competitive sailors to the sailing center. Thousands of recreational sailors rent J22s each summer to sail in Narragansett Harbor.
Jonathan Thurston of Lanex Yachting USA has sailed in Narragansett Bay on Sail Newport J22s for more than 25 years. He has participated in the mid-week regattas and volunteered his sailing skills for corporate team building events. He is just the kind of guy you want on your boat! And the kind of guy you want assisting you on what type of line you need for your boat!
